MOMS Club® = Moms Offering Moms Support

The MOMS Club® of Annandale, VA is a local chapter of the International MOMS Club® organization. We are a nonprofit group designed to support BOTH stay-home moms and working moms with part-time or flexible schedules.  Through our various activities and events, we help moms and their kids keep busy, make new friends, and have a lot of fun.

HISTORY

Our club is an affiliate of the International MOMS Club® which consists of over 2,000 chapters and 100,000 members in 8 different countries. It all began with a stay-home mom in California in 1983. She was so tired of feeling isolated and she had a feeling that there were lots of other women in her situation. So, she decided to form a group to get all the stay-home moms and kids in her town together. Thus, the MOMS Club® was born. The group was so successful that she and a bunch of other volunteers began to spread the word and help other moms across the country to start their own MOMS Clubs. Eventually, the idea caught on and is now in full swing around the globe.

The MOMS Club® of Annandale, Virginia chapter was founded in October of 2007.  We are a young but strong chapter that continuously grows in numbers, activities, and fun!  In just four years, we have grown to have over 65 amazing members! 

ACTIVITIES & EVENTS

Living here in Northern Virginia, we have so many resources at our disposal.  There are more things to do and sites to see than we'll ever have time for.  Sometimes, it can be difficult to get out on your own and do things.  The good news is that after becoming a MOMS Club® member, you won't have to.  

Every month, we send out an activities calendar full of things to do.  There is at least 1 activity to choose from EVERY DAY of the month. Here are just some of the things on our calendar:

Every month, we also have a General Meeting where members discuss and plan our future events.  Quarterly, we schedule great Guest Speakers to join us at our meetings, such as a Kindermusik teacher, a Reading Readiness Specialist, a Pediatric Dentist, a Speech Pathologist, and a children's photographer.

One of the main reasons that our chapter is so successful is that we all serve as a support system for one another. Members enjoy the benefits of our in-house Babysitting Co-op as well as our Sunshine Committee and Ray of Sunshine Outreach programs, created to help moms during their times of need.  Whenever a mom has a new baby, our Sunshine Committee organizes a meal delivery program to lighten the load for her.  Every one participates and it's a great way to help a fellow mom during her major life transition. The committee also addresses other types of needs, such as the loss of a family member, a husband's deployment, problems with post-partum depression, etc.  Most importantly, our members are there for one another in both the good times and the bad.
